Let’s just say Alvarez Guitar’s social media campaign worked. Funny story about how I picked up two Alvarez Guitar’s. My wife’s mom’s side are named Alvarez. Therefore my wife wanted an Alvarez guitar. We worked out a deal with our local Alvarez Guitar dealer in Tucson (Sticks n Strings) and got her one that was unique. I will make a separate blog post later. After doing some more research, I discovered how affordable Alvarez’s Masterworks series guitars are. The Masterworks series is an all-solid guitar, meaning the top of the guitar and sides/back of the guitar are all hand-crafted from a solid piece of wood. Most mid-priced to cheap guitars are usually made from laminated sides and back. All solid offerings from Martin and Taylor will cost you in the $1500 and up price range. Seeing the final out the door price of a Grand Auditorium solid spruce top and solid mahogany side and backs made us squeeze as much money as we couldn to obtain one. It had always been a dream of mine to own an all-solid guitar.

Initial impressions are very good. I am going to play it hard the next week or so to let the guitar open up before I review it in depth. The same goes for the other Alvarez I picked up for the wife. Stay tuned.
